What to do?

Rest assured, we have all the answers you need.

Trip Planning

Previous paddling experience might come in handy for a week of sea kayaking, but it is not mandatory or required for you to join one of our tours. All of our programs are suitable both for beginner and advanced paddling skills – depending on your skill level, your guide will adjust the program. All of the activities can be done in multiple versions, considering the physical capabilities of the group. It is important that you are confident with your swimming skills and your health condition is good.

Feel free to check our “Trip Essentials” section where you will be able to find detailed instructions on how to pack and what to expect during your trip.

Depending on the location/accommodation, we are able to offer you single, double and triple rooms. Most of the accommodations provide double rooms, where one person can stay (single supplement), or two people. Please, have in mind that some guesthouses in Croatia and Montenegro connect two single beds in order to provide you a shared bed.

Minimum age required in order to participate in our tours is 8 years, under the condition of the child’s parents to be present as well. Lighthouse cannot accept any children without the supervision of their parents/guardians. 18 years of age is a limit for a younger person to participate in a tour, under the condition of acquiring parental consent. For any other cases, please let us know so we can help you. Maximum age does not exist.

Custom Trips

By all means, do let us know if you would like a completely customized trip to be organized for you. It will be our pleasure to provide you with a tailored trip for you and your fellow travelers. Allow us to help – contact us through our “Tailor Made” section. Private tour – yes, it is possible. In case your group meets our criteria, you can request a private tour. If you are a group of 8 travelers, your tour automatically becomes a private one.

Of course we can. Even though Albania is not listed under our usual trips (yet), a customized trip to Albania is more than possible. Just let us know about your wishes and we will let you know as soon as we finish with our estimate and follow up with you with our initial recommendation. This applies to other neighbouring countries as well, don’t be afraid to ask. We will do everything we can for you.

Different Travelers

If you’re planning on traveling alone (and nearly half of our clients do), we are still able to provide you with your very own room, for an additional charge – the “single supplement”, as we like to call it.

Of course, every single trip in our offer is adjusted for all kinds of travelers, families especially. Depending on the age of the children, we can accommodate all of you in a single accommodation, or in different rooms, if your kids need a bit more privacy.
Brilliant news, this can be a completely private trip for your group, considering the number of friends you’ve got with yourself. Like with any other traveler, we can offer you single, double and triple rooms. In some locations we can find a whole house/bungalow, just for your group. Don’t worry, it will be amazing.
In order to maintain the quality of our trips, all of the tours we have in our offer are limited to a maximum of 8 participants. This allows us to keep the individual approach and provide you with the best level of service. Minimum number of participants required for our tours is 4. In case you are traveling in a group smaller than that, let us know so we can find the best solution.

The Gear We Use

Of course – as most of our tours implement snorkeling as one of the activities, we are also here to provide you with the snorkeling gear. We want you to enjoy the best underwater views of the Adriatic Sea.

With your kayaks, whether a single or a double kayak for your expedition, you will also be provided with the full kayaking gear – paddle, PFD/life jacket, sprayskirt, dry bag, area map. Kayaks we use are mostly the following: Prijon, Wilderness Systems, Necky, RTM. Kayaking gear usually belongs to the following names: Hiko, Stohlquist, Werner, Palm, Aqua Bond. In case you’re bringing your own gear, feel free to inform us/consult with us.

Other things for you to bring: swimwear, hat, sunglasses, sunblock, lip balm, water bottle, towel, waterproof camera, water footwear (water shoes, sturdy sandals, etc.), change of clothes in case of strong winds, windbreaker jacket.
You should bring everything you usually use for your cycling with yourself on the trip, except the helmet as it would be difficult for packing. Lighthouse will provide you with your helmet.
Other things for you to bring: water bottle, sunblock, lip balm, hat, sunglasses, cycling gloves, change of clothes, lightweight jacket, training shoes.

Financial Part

Best way for you to book a trip with us would be through the e-mail, easily read, understood and answered. Under every tour description you can find a booking form which will make it easier for you to contact us and ask us any additional questions you might have. You can also use any of the contact forms around our website – it doesn’t necessarily have to be a booking form. Just let us know which trip you might be interested in and let us take care of the rest. In order to reserve your spot(s), a 300€ deposit/person is required. The balance is due 45 days prior to the trip.
Payment can be done in two ways – online credit card payment or a bank transfer. Whichever option you opt for, let us know and detailed instructions will follow.

Insurance and Cancellation

As a registered travel agency, we have both compulsory insurance policies for tour operators, including liability and personal accident insurance for all of our clients. However, Lighthouse strongly recommends purchasing additional travel insurance for the trip.
In that case, we need you to read our “Terms and Conditions” section carefully. Thank you.
Unfortunately not. Most of our trips run from May until October when the weather conditions are as stable as they can be. As we are not able to control the weather yet, there is a chance of unpredictable weather conditions, where we will do our best to keep you safe, in your comfort zone, but still out there. Alternatives will be provided, different scenarios and everything needed for the trip to stay as good as possible. All of the itineraries are subject to change, depending on the weather conditions, group capabilities or due to higher forces. Lighthouse reserves the right to alternate program(s) without prior notice.

When In Croatia - Frequently Asked Questions

Not a problem at all. We are able to cater to all kinds of diets – vegetarian, vegan, gluten free, etc. Most of the restaurants are familiar with all of the above and more, nothing is impossible with prior notice. Just keep an open mind as we are about to visit some remote places, traditional families and maybe not every single time will we be able to find the perfect meal for you.
Croatia’s national currency is called “kuna” – most of the places in this country won’t accept euros. Although we are in the European Union, we are still not a part of the eurozone (the euro area). Best way to do it would be a direct withdrawal from one of the ATM’s as you arrive in the country.
Yes and no – a lot of places will accept credit cards, but given the fact that we are going off the beaten path every now and then, it is highly recommended to have some cash on you, just in case that the bartender demands cash for your large beer.
Yes. It gives you all the flexibility in the world and a chance to explore our beautiful country even better. In case your time in Croatia allows you some unpredictability and going off the track, do get a car and let us know if you need some help with the navigation, accommodation or advice on what to do/not to do.

The Logistics

Depending on your trip, best months to visit vary. Considering Dubrovnik, it will always be crowded, to be honest. July and August being the classics of high season, but now June and September have become the high season as well, in a way. May is wonderful, but weather is still tricky. October can be the most beautiful month of the year as the weather is stable enough, sea is still warm and the crowds are almost gone. Zagreb, however, is amazing for visiting in the summer months as people are leaving the city and you have the city all to yourself. Montenegro – depending on the region, but mostly similar to Croatia. But, whenever you do decide to visit these countries, you won’t regret it.
Depending on the trip you prefer, the best airport for you to land changes as well. Along with every trip description, you will be able to see the departure city. Three major airports you can fly in to for trips around Croatia are Dubrovnik, Split and Zagreb. Just in case, during your correspondence, you will be informed on the best location for your flights.
So far, we are not able to help you with your flights to and from Croatia – this is your part. We can help you out with some basic information in order to minimize the hassle.
