Why should you visit Croatia? | Travel Blog | Croatia

If it isn’t on your bucket list yet, change it. Visit Croatia. It is one the most popular countries in the world chosen by millions of people as their holiday destination. Only a brief search on the all-knowing internet will be enough for you to understand the thought process of travelers visiting Croatia.

“Sun? Sea? Good food? Amazing nature? Wonderful people? Safe to travel? Honey, pack our bags!”

The geography

Where should we start? Our climate is spectacular and with Croatia being one of Europe’s sunniest spots, be sure that you can leave your hat on. We’re right here – you can reach us in under 4h from anywhere in Europe, if you’re flying. Yes, it is a bit different with the rest of the world, but it’s totally worth it – ask your friends.

We have Roman ruins, ancient columns, temples and walls in the city of Split. Not to mention other cities where other cultures and nations have left their trace. In the city of Pula you can find one of the best preserved Roman amphitheatres in the world, dating back to the first century.

Beaches out of this world, but they’re right here. Ever heard of Zlatni Rat beach on Brač island? You must have. Take into consideration that we have over 1200 islands along our coastline, and not to begin with the mainland. Yes, there will be a snorkeling spot for you, rest assured.

The attractions

National parks? How many would you like? Besides the Plitvice lakes, as our most visited national park, one can also enjoy Mother Nature’s fine art in many other national parks. Krka waterfall is a must-see attraction, but please, don’t forget our other national parks – Mljet, Paklenica, Kornati, Brijuni, Risnjak and Sjeverni Velebit.

And of course – always go for the capital. Zagreb. Don’t let it be just a transit city, as it deserves so much more. Although it feels like it’s light years away from the beaches, Zagreb still has that “something”. The architecture, the culture, the tree-lined avenues where you can see a whole new world. It is living in its own pace, very different from the one you had the opportunity of seeing on Mljet island.

For the other type of “wild-ones” – summer festivals. We have over 150 festivals happening during the year and some of them are being compared to the world’s elite festivals. Dubrovnik Summer Festival, INmusic, Ultra Europe and various film festivals. Or you can make a festival of your own in some of our party destinations like Hvar town.

We almost forgot the food. Oh, the food! Freshly caught fish, octopus salad, olive oil, truffles, oysters, homemade pasta and so many traditional recipes. A whole new festival for your stomachs.

Welcome to Croatia.
