You ask, we answer #1 | Travel Blog | Croatia

What destinations do you specialize in?

Croatia and Montenegro in our predesigned tours program, and surrounding countries in the tailor made program, depending on the client’s wishes.

What activities do you specialize in?

Hiking, cycling, sea kayaking and whitewater rafting are our standard activities, with a possible addition of other various activities like rock climbing etc.

Give us a brief overview of the kinds of trips you offer?

We offer trips for small groups, of up to 8 people, in order to maintain the high level quality of customer service, individual approach and a friendly atmosphere. We keep are clients active while exploring the beauties of our region as we are also sight-seeing old cities, UNESCO world heritage sites and small, privately owned farms, guesthouses and gardens for adding the authenticity of the country we are visiting and exploring.

Describe a trip that’s unique to your company and what travelers like about it?

Our most significant trip would be the “Higlights of Croatia” trip, as the name says it – here we are deeply exploring the beauties of Croatia. Starting from the south, in Dubrovnik, exploring the Adriatic in a kayak, we continue up north in order to explore the national parks of Krka, Paklenica, Kornati and Plitvice lakes which are only a fraction of our expedition where we are hiking, trekking, swimming, snorkeling, sea kayaking and cycling. We are also visiting some of our most interesting cities like Ston, Split, Zadar, Šibenik and Zagreb. Not to mention all of the small, picturesque villages on our way up north. People like this tour as it presents a unique combination of culture, activities and people. It is a trip that helps you to see, understand and live Croatia.

Describe the people who make your trips special (guides, office staff, etc.)?

Being a one-man-band for the most of the time, it seems that I should use this segment to describe myself. In my company, I represent the Lighthouse from the very beginning of the process, to the e-mail correspondence with the clients, through organizing and guiding the trip myself, to the last airport transfer where we hug each other and plan our next trip together. I am the guide that orders the chocolate cake in the restaurant for your birthday, books a special table for the newlyweds, away from the crowds, takes you to the most wonderful cave on the Kolocep island and shows you the hidden waterfall in the Tara river canyon. I believe in small gestures and those almost invisible-to-others moments. Our/my trips are special because I know my audience and I go the extra mile. Every single time.

How do you recruit and train your guides and staff?

We recruit our staff, if and when needed, only through personal reference as this is a delicate profession and we choose carefully who will be given the chance of taking care of our clients. There is a certain quality standard which our candidates have to meet. After this step, we choose the best out of them, the industry professionals, seasoned guides and most important of all, good people. People who we can count on.

Describe anything else you do to ensure travelers have a great experience when they travel with your company?

Long story short, it’s those small moments. Inner circle jokes. Special pictures. Beers together.

Welcome to Lighthouse.
